ReachZone

Delivery zones by drive time

“We deliver within 15 minutes of the kitchen”, drawn from real roads instead of a circle.

Building a drive-time zone needs the Pro plan or higher, because the ReachZone service works out the area. Zones you have already built stay on your site and keep working on any plan.

Why drive time

Ten kilometres in a city centre and ten kilometres across a river are very different jobs for a driver. A drive-time zone follows the roads, so a shopper two blocks away across a motorway is not promised a 20-minute delivery that takes 40.

Add one

  1. Open WooCommerce > ReachZone and choose “Add drive-time zone”.
  2. Enter the minutes and the travel mode: driving, cycling or walking.
  3. Set the fee, minimum order, delivery time and shipping methods like any other zone, then save.

When you save, the plugin asks the ReachZone API for the area reachable from your pin in that time and stores the shape on your site. Shoppers' checks then run on your own site against that stored shape, and the API is not asked again unless you change the minutes, the mode or the location.

Limits

  • Up to 15 minutes at launch. A longer zone is refused when you save, with a message.
  • Pro: drive-time zones for one location, up to 3 zones. Business and Agency: drive-time zones for up to 5 locations, as many zones as you like.
  • Each paid plan has a monthly allowance of drive-time areas; see the fair-use limits. Saving a zone uses one.

Mix zone types

Drive-time zones sit alongside radius, drawn and postcode zones. Use priorities to decide which is checked first. A common set-up is a small radius for free delivery, then a 15-minute drive zone with a fee.

What the estimate means

Drive time is calculated for typical conditions from a map-data provider and does not account for live traffic. Use it to decide where you deliver, and word your delivery time on the safe side.
