ReachZone for Shopify: help

How to set up delivery zones in the ReachZone app for Shopify, how checkout uses them, and where to get help.

Getting started

  1. Open the Delivery zones page in the app and add a location: click its point on the map (on Pro and Business you can also type its address and look it up).
  2. Give the location its zones: a radius, an area you draw on the map, a postcode list or a drive-time area. Say which zone wins when they overlap.
  3. Save. Nothing is used at checkout until you save.
  4. To show shoppers a checker on your store, open the theme editor, then App embeds, and turn on “Delivery checker button”. You can also add the “Delivery checker” block to a page or product template.
  5. Try it: in the zone editor, use “Test an address” to see what a shopper would get, then place a test order.

How checkout uses your zones

The rules run inside Shopify’s checkout, so they work when you turn on “Apply my delivery zones at checkout” in Checkout settings.

Shopify only gives us a map point for an address the shopper picks from the address suggestions. A typed address has no map point. For those, ReachZone uses the postcode rule or the shopper’s answer from the delivery checker if there is one. When it still cannot tell, it follows the setting “When an address cannot be checked” in Checkout settings: block the order, or let it through. Pick the one that suits you.

Plans and billing

You start on the free plan. Paid plans are billed by Shopify on your Shopify invoice, and you can change or cancel them on the Plans page in the app at any time.

Text for your privacy notice

You are the one who decides how your shoppers’ addresses are used, so your own privacy policy should mention the address check. You can copy this paragraph into it and adjust it to your shop.

We use ReachZone to check whether we deliver to your address. When you type a delivery address in our delivery checker, the address and its country are sent to ReachZone (Mohamed Farag, Barcelona, Spain), which finds its position on the map for us and acts only as our processor. ReachZone passes the address text and country to its map-data provider, Geoapify (KEPTAGO LTD, Cyprus, servers in the EU). ReachZone does not store the address text: it keeps a scrambled key of the address together with the position found for 90 days. The checks at checkout run inside Shopify. Your name, email address, phone number, IP address and order are never sent to ReachZone. Their privacy notice is at reachzone.app/privacy.

If you turned on the demand map, add this as well. The checker records a position only for shoppers who allowed analytics in your shop’s cookie banner (Shopify’s Customer Privacy API); where the shopper’s region needs no consent, Shopify counts that as allowed.

If you allow analytics in our cookie choices, we also record where deliveries were not possible, so we can see where customers are asking for delivery. Those positions are rounded to about 100 metres, stored with the date, and deleted after 180 days.

When you remove the app, Shopify asks us to delete your shop’s data about 48 hours later, and we do. The details are in our privacy notice and data processing agreement.
